2005-09-04 10:26 AM A good deed for the day... Mood: Happy Read/Post Comments (1) |
So yesterday Berek and I went with his dad to Office Depot to pick up some much needed school supplies. Thankfully, he was nice enough to pick up the bill because alas, we're broke! I got two new folders, pencils, pens, etc.
After a couple of other errands Berek and I were on our way home when we were in the right turn lane at Topanga and Victory (just short of Victory), when we heard a PSSTTSSSSS sound. It kinda sounded like something popped. Our first inclination was a popped tire or someone hit us, but there was no impact. Behind us the black BMW started smoking under the hood. We got out and a young girl was about to lose it. Berek went to her and asked if she was alright. This seemed to calm her. I shut Berek's door as oncoming traffic will be unhappy to be held back by a car whose radiator had probably exploded a tube or something. She called her dad who has triple A and she waited. We didn't want to leave her alone because he people driving by were being jerks and she was very upset. Understandably so I might add. She apparently was going to go to school in New Orleans, but Katrina hit and she was forced to come back here. All her things were lost so she was on her way to the mall to buy new clothes. Poor girl. We waited with her and kept talking to her. This seemed to keep her mind going which was important. She was probably about to break. Finally, her dad and grandfather showed up and we started on our way. Her dad thanked us profusely. On a side note, there was only one other person who stopped and asked if she was okay. Everyone else, didn't care. Nice huh? We came home and cleaned up the apartment. Unfortnately, we only got the front two rooms, but it was okay. We got somewhere. Berek made dinner which was delicious! We sat down at the dining room table. I hung some wall sconces earlier and so we lit them. I also had a centerpiece candle and I lit that as well. I turned the living room light on very low and had some celtic music on in the background. It was very nice. We haven't done that in a while. Then we watched Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. It was alright. Better than the first two, but had some problems. In any case, after that Berek read to me from the fourth book and then we went to sleep.
