2006-02-20 11:23 AM Bathing Boo Boo and other weekend stuff... Mood: Tired and recovering from being sick... Read/Post Comments (0) |
Well, this weekend was definately interesting. I think I should've stayed home on Friday instead of going to work (for those who didn't know, I had caught a really nasty cold). I went to work though and I relapsed on Saturday. I couldn't even talk. My voice had left me and my throat was so sore and to make matters worse, I could barely breathe without mucus coming into the picture somehow. So Saturday I stayed home sick. Bleh. I started feeling a little better after a day of rest by nightfall. Berek and I had to go get groceries so we decided to brave the weather and I dressed super warm! We went to Whole Foods with Berek's dad and did our grocery shopping. When we came home, Naboo had decided that he wanted to nose through a pot of spaghetti o's that I had rinsed and put in the sink. I guess I didn't rinse it well because his head was covered in spaghetti o's sauce! *sigh* Off to the bathroom it was for a bath! I wasn't going to wait for that crap to come off by miracle. It was a chore bathing him, particularly since our sinks aren't large enough for him, I had to bathe him in the bathtub. I was taking a great risk because I wasn't going to wear clothes and get them wet, and he wasn't happy getting wet.
To make a long story short, he was actually a very good boy. I kept talking to him soothingly and I was hugging him and petting him as I cleaned his head. He meowed very loudly at first, but that was it. Then drying him off was a task because it is so cold these days that I don't want him getting sick because he wasn't dried well. I dried him off for about 30 minutes before releasing him. I figured he wouldn't gone directly under the couch, but oddly enough...he didn't. He wasn't afraid of me either. He's a good boy when he wants to be. I fed him his dinner and that was that. Yesterday, I went to the cemetary with my mother to visit family members who we haven't gone to visit in at least 10 years. My great grandparents (mom's grandparents on both sides), my aunt, and my brother's graves were grown over some by grass and weeds. I decided to clear the grass and weeds myself. My mom and I bought flowers and were dispersing them among the 6 of them. I always thought cemetaries were creepy and odd, but this one was very serene and pretty. It's very high in the hills near Lake View Terrace. It's very pretty and I think I'd like to go up there more often to visit them. I thought it was very interesting that both my great grandmothers had a ladybug on their headstone. No one else had one. :) After we visited them, we decided to walk around and look at other people's stones. We're sort of morbid I suppose, but I find it interesting. The only thing I wasn't prepared for was finding a section dedicated to babies. My mom and I went through the whole section looking at all the babies who either were still born, like my brother Darryl or those who didn't live very long...days, weeks, a year. It was very sad to know that so many people had lost babies. I began to wonder how my mom got through the death of her son. She said it was very painful, especially putting away all the baby's clothes. I didn't expect to get emotional, but I did when I saw that someone had left their little boy 3 brand new trucks lined up neatly on the upper right corner of his headstone. It was just all very very sad. All these babies. My mom has decided that when she visits her son again, she would like to leave him some trucks or toys too. After we left the cemetary we went to her house for short time and I spent some time with my grandpa. Being around death (and recently finding out that his brother had passed away) you begin to realize that time is precious with those you love. Then my mom and I decided to go to Michael's because we wanted to look at stuff for the wedding. For the most part it was enjoyable, but there were a few things that bothered me. For example, my mom has decided that she's going to buy us our toasting glasses without consulting us (she wants to surprise us). Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it a bad thing to have any surprises on your wedding day? I know she didn't get to plan her wedding because her mother took over, but you can't tell me that she enjoyed that! Why would she do it then to me too? She has her own ideas about how the wedding should look, but the problem is that it isn't her wedding and Berek and I have a specific way we'd like it to look and feel. *Sigh* It's going to be a battle. I know it. Last night we decided that we were going to eat at California Pizza Kitchen. It was the first time in at least 6 weeks that just he and I decided we would go out and have dinner. We were a little naughty, we ate some pasta and pizza, but we didn't gorge ourselves. We gladly took our leftovers home. I also had a raspberry lemon drop martini which was really good. The waitress was awesome and she deserved the tip we gave her. :) She was very friendly. I bought some bridal magazines while we waited to be seated (everyone and their mother was out to eat last night, waits were exceeding an hour for a lot of places!). We also went to Ralphs for the rest of our groceries. Berek and I had a great night! We spent a lot of time together and talked about some stuff and just enjoyed each other's company. I know that he is Mr. Right. I've never felt this way about anyone before. He is perfect...he is Berek! :D Anyway, today I'm studying, doing laundry and relaxing. In fact, I better get back to it. :) Blessed Be! Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
