Wouldn't you know it?! Right before I start my 1 week vacation, I had to get the flu! My luck sucks! We can't go to Ren Faire this weekend because honestly it just wouldn't be right to Carrie, Baxter, and the rest of the people at the Faire. Plus, being out in the dusty, arrid climate probably wouldn't do either myself or Berek any good.

It all started about 3 days ago, when I was perfectly healthy! Berek was feeling pretty run down, but had a massive lot of work to do. He decided he was going to go to work. (That was mistake #1.) About midway through the day, he started feeling rather nauseous and I kept insisting that he should come home and not push it. (Mistake #2: He didn't listen.) Finally, at around 3 or 4 he decided he had had enough. So he called dad to pick him up (because I had Ben's car and we didn't want to have to come and pick Ben up later). As it turned out, his dad needed some help with something at his house and they went to pick up Berek's comic books. He didn't get home until after 6p.m.! (There's mistake #3) (I love you Berek. :D) The last and final mistake which led up to me getting sick...mistake #4 he accidentally coughed on me! It honestly couldn't be helped and I don't blame him for it happening. Poor Berek has been having coughing spells that last all night long for the past 3 nights! (I'm afraid he may have bronchitis.) The poor thing can't get any sleep (and neither can I, if we're in the same bed.).

As for me, I didn't sleep that first night at all. I think I may have caught 3 to 4 hours interrupted sleep. I went in to work and I started feeling it in my throat. Then, by 5 p.m., I started to notice that my body was aching. I figured it was because I was on my feet all day, so I stuck it out. Then at 6, I noticed that my eyeballs hurt everytime I moved them around...uh oh. For me, that usually means I have a fever. I asked if I could go home because I was feeling particularly bad. They said I could and I went home. Sure enough, I had a fever of 100.5 by the time I got home. At about 8, I checked my temp again and it had reached 101.6! So here I am. I called in sick yesterday and today I went in with a slight fever in order to finish some paperwork that I knew the newer receptionist probably wouldn't have been able to do alone. (She'd never done Arthroscopy discharges and bills before.)

Now I'm at home and I'm pretty much dead tired. I think I used up all my reserves by doing all those bills and discharges. Bleh. My throat hurts to swallow and talk and now I'm beginning to cough which makes things much, much worse...*sigh* Again, not my ideal way to start a week off.
