Today, I decided to pick up the phone and call my good friends Elizabeth and her sister Wendi. (Wendi is in town for a couple of months before she moves from San Diego to Nebraska.) I haven't seen either for awhile.

I discovered that Wendi is 25 weeks pregnant with her third child. She looks great! Her belly has been the only thing that has changed and I wouldn't have guessed that she's as preggie as she is. In any case, I got to their place around 11:30 this morning.

Wynter is 4, almost 5 and Teagan is 2, almost 3. Neither one would talk to me when I first got there. Wynter is particularly snobby and Teagan is particularly shy. In any case, after a few minutes of helping them color, I couldn't get either of them to leave me alone. We all decided to go swimming around 12 or 12:30 and we stayed in the pool all day. (Not a good idea, hence the last part of my title for this entry.)

It was very interesting because according to Liz, Teagan never lets anyone hold her in the pool other than Wendi, but she wanted me to hold her and allowed me to take her with me swimming. This was a shock to me as well considering how shy she generally is. But apparently, she took a liking to me. I also managed to have Wynter so interested in my company that I couldn't do anything else other than play with her! She liked climbing on my back and balancing on my shoulders. She also loved it when I would pick her up and toss her in the pool (while still in the pool of course!). Argh, my arms are a bit sore from all the lifting I did today. :)

It was a blast! It's been awhile since I've been able to let go and have fun. After we finally got out of pool around 5ish we headed in and started playing with a load of balloons. Interestingly enough, this held our attention until about 7:45! (Who knew adults could enjoy balloons long enough to pass the rest of the day away?) Again, the kids wouldn't leave me alone. I gave lots of piggy back rides and I chased them around. I think we all had fun.

We all sat down and ate dinner, and afterward I had to go home. It was then I realized that I had made an impact on the girls because neither of them wanted me to leave. Wynter kept asking if I was coming back tomorrow. I had to explain that I couldn't because I had to work. Her reply was simply, "After work will you come then?" So I had to explain that I couldn't. She had to settle for me coming back possibly this weekend with Berek. Teagan wouldn't let go of me when I asked her for a hug. :) It was very cute. In any case, they had gone from not talking to me at the beginning to not wanting me to leave at the end. Obviously, I am better with kids than I realized. :) Maybe my future progeny won't be so scarred afterall.

Despite my best efforts of applying sunblock all day, I still managed to burn. Mostly on the middle of my back because it was the one place I couldn't reach. Ah well. Que serah serah! (spelling?)
