2006-11-19 10:52 AM Wedding Site, Cellphone and Emergency Room! Mood: Exhausted and Worried Read/Post Comments (1) |
So, last night was quite possibly the worst night of my life. I'll start from the beginning...
When Berek and I got up in the morning, he found a spot on the carpet where it appeared that one of the cats had vomited a hairball. We cleaned it up and went on with the day. A little bit later, I gave Naboo some yogurt and shortly after, he threw it up. There was a fair amount of hair in it, so we figured he was the culprit earlier. Stupid hairballs. We ran a few errands and had lunch and then we headed home. (We found a really good potential wedding site.) On the way home we decided to stop at a Cingular store because my phone service is currently expired and now I have to sign up for a Cingular account and get a new phone. (My old one was an AT&T phone with an AT&T SIM card and they don't use those anymore.) In any case, I had been doing research to see if there was a phone out there that I liked and I picked the Fire Red RAZR V3r. It's neat. Very pretty. After the guy showed me the phone, he kept telling me that it was going to be like $250, but that it comes with a travel charger and a bluetooth headset free. It was a deal I almost got, until he started pushing a cable package with us from Cingular. We kept insisting that we were fine with what we had and that we just wanted the phone. Finally, after coming so close to buying it from there, I decided this guy is a jerk and I'm not buying anything from him. We left and went home to drop off my food from lunch. The cats were doing alright and it wasn't time for dinner yet and I wanted to go to the grocery store and another Cingular store to get me my new phone. (Not necessarily in that order.) We went to Affordable Portables and they offered us a good deal that made me wonder if the guy at the other store was trying to con us. The price was still a bit too steep so we went to a different Cingular store. There, we found out that the guy at the first store was totally trying to con us. That Cingular store showed that the phone was $175 and the accessories (like a travel charger and bluetooth headset) cost just enough to put it up at $250! He was trying to tell us that those items were free with the phone, but charge us the full amount without us knowing to boost his sales! What a jerk! The lady that sold me my phone was awesome and did a great job. At some point, I'm going to call her manager and tell them what a great job she did. :) So we went to buy groceries and came home. I fed the cats and started playing Final Fantasy. Suddenly, Naboo threw up his food. We started realizing that this wasn't good, but I figured his spirits are normal, so he might just not be feeling very well. But then he threw up again, two more times. Okay, that's not normal. We took him to the emergency care center up the street from us. The doctor said he looked pretty normal and didn't feel like he was obstructed or anything. (Plus, we told her that he had had a bowel movement shortly before bringing him in. We watched him when he was in the litter box to see if he was straining.) She said that there was nothing to do yet, except treat him symptomatically. So they gave him subcutaneous fluids and an anti-emetic (which is an anti-nausea drug). Then we took him home. She told us though that if he gets worse we should bring him back in. So when we got him home, we resumed doing our normal stuff. I noticed after a couple of hours, that he was kind of restless. He wouldn't just lay down and rest. This isn't good. I was trying to make him comfortable at one point after Berek had gone to sleep. (Mind you this is about midnight.) I had decided to pull out the futon and lay on it with a comforter (because that's his favorite time with mommy). He did come up with me, but he still didn't stay resting in one place very long. I told myself not to panic. I needed to give him some more time. It's entirely possible that he is just so exhausted he can't get comfortable. I gave him a couple of hours and by that time he wouldn't settle, he'd follow me everywhere and it seemed like he was trying to tell me, "Mommy, I don't feel very good." Plus, it looked like he would try and sleep, but to no avail. He would either get up and move to another spot, or he'd just open his eyes again. Then, he threw up twice more. The last time, the fluid was slightly blood-tinged. That was it. Time to go back to the vet. The doctor came in and talked to us. She recommended taking two shots of radiographs to see if we could find anything that way, do some blood work and keep him there overnight so that they could continue giving him anti-emetics and fluids. We agreed. Fortunately, the radiographs didn't show anything. In this case, no news is good news. The hardest thing to do was to leave him there. But even in the carrier, he was uncomfortable. Berek noticed that he would try to sleep in there, but then would wake up again. It could've been because he didn't want to wake up and us not be there, but I'm likely to think that it's because his tummy just isn't doing very well. I stayed up all night. I was so wound up from the adrenaline and from thoughts dancing around in my head trying to make sense out of all this. It was also hard to watch Hal jump to greet the three of us and realize there was only two. He has been moping around the apartment ever since. Howling, wandering, sleeping, and not being himself. *Sigh* I finally went to sleep around 6 a.m. But, I woke up around 10 because I wanted to call the vet and see how he was doing. Thankfully, he hasn't vomited again since we left him, but they couldn't tell me if he's rested at all. They're going to keep him there and feed him around 4p.m. and then see if he holds it down. I miss my Boo Boo! Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
