2006-11-27 12:19 PM Rain... Mood: Content Read/Post Comments (0) |
Ah, the rain is good. To me, it's very soothing. It's why I'd love to live in Britain where it rains all the time. :) Not to mention that the rain means cleansing. Imagine all the crap that's built up over the past few dry months. It's all being washed away. This means, new beginnings! :)
Well, my weekend went very well. It was very nice to have another 4-day weekend. Work is great, but exhausting. School is school...I'll get into more about that later. In any case, I went to my parent's house for Thanksgiving. I had made a smashing blue cranberry sauce that was a huge hit! I also made the candied yams for the first time! They turned out fabuloso! :) The time spent there was calm and fun! It wasn't quite the same without the bickering and wars, but it was neat. Very quiet and fun. I got home Thursday night around 10p.m. Berek, Ben and their dad were waiting outside of Best Buy for the Black Friday deal on a 32" flat screen television. (By the way, we have a brand new 32" flat screen t.v.! That was dad's Hanukkah present to us.) Meanwhile, I was in my nice warm bed. :) That was cool! Friday was sort of a down day. We had no specific plans and we sort of just hung out around the house. I played some more Final Fantasy XII. (What a cool game!) I got a bit of disturbing news about the CPR program that I was taking in my Child Development class. The teacher apparently raised the price from $45 to $55. I know it's only ten dollars, but when you spent damn near $1,300 the previous weekend for an emergency and you were expecting to pay $33 previously, it gets to be a bit rediculous. (I found this out from a classmate of mine.) The money was also due on Monday. Plus, there was an assignment that she wanted written in a specific format that no one was understanding and that she wasn't willing to teach. I decided that if I couldn't pay for the class, that I wouldn't be taking it and just take the zero for it. But now with this assignment that she is requesting, I have no clue how to write it, I'd likely get a bad grade on it and thus get a similar grade in the class because this assignment is worth a lot in the overall grade. So, I dropped it. With only two days to spare. Sunday was the drop deadline. Whew! So the nice thing is, my Mondays are free again. The bad thing...it's pretty close to the end of the semester and I have to retake the class...*sigh* I started decorating the apartment for the holidays. :) Christmas time is fun for the decorations. :) I know that I don't personally celebrate Christmas, but I do celebrate the season. :) Saturday was pretty much a whatever day too. We wound up trekking to the swap meet because my best friend Laura was on her way to meet her husband there. I haven't seen her in such a very long time. She's been going through pharmacy tech classes and with my schedule it's been damn near impossible to get together. Although with nearly 15 months left until the wedding we better make time. In any case, we caught up with each other and wandered around the swap meet and then Berek and I headed home to do some chores and make sure things were presentable for company. We were expecting Liz to come over and hang out with us. She came over and we decided to head out and buy a new lamp because the one in the bedroom had apparently died. So we went to Target and Liz picked up a movie and we got our lamp. Then we headed to Borders in Northridge. There Liz and I got talked to about a variety of things in the metaphysical section. *sigh* The guy was nice enough, but definately a bit weird. After we got more than our share of an earful we didn't want to be there much longer. (Although I did get a good book out of the deal. :D) We ended up leaving and then headed to my parents' house to pick up the left overs for Thanksgiving. Berek was a little disappointed that he didn't get any left over asparagus, but I did accidentally manage to steal all of the red cabbage. *grins* Berek was happy about that. :) Liz and I watched the movie that she bought which was called, "Imagine Me & You" and it was an independent british film that was very interesting. I enjoyed it very much. Then after Liz went home (after midnight), Berek and I sat up and chatted a bit and then off to dreamland! Sunday was sort of the catch-up day. We got to sleep in and then we did our grocery shopping. It was nice wandering Whole Foods. :) It's one of the things that Berek and I enjoy doing each and every Sunday. Then we went home and clipped coupons, ate lunch and got ready to head out to my parents house to help them put up lights. That was interesting, but fun none the less. :) After which, we finished up with a Ralphs run to get the odds and ends we can't get at Whole Foods. I decided since it was so cold, that I was going to take a nice warm bath and read a comic book. Then Berek and I caught an episode of Mythbusters which was exploring the whole Mentos and Coke thing. It was fun. Then I took up to some reading in bed and drifted off to sleep...with a cat laying on my butt! I love my Naboo! :D Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
