So last night I went to my first class of the semester. I'm enrolled in Child Development 2 and 4 this semester. Last night was CD2, tonight is CD4.

I paid for my classes last night (which is a new thing for me). I usually wait until the end of the semester to pay for them, but I decided I should get it out of the way so that I can get a parking pass this semester. I don't want to have to spend $2 a day twice a week for the next 16 weeks. That'll be more expensive in the long run and plus, it means I have to be at school earlier to make sure I get a space and a parking pass for the day. This way life will be easier for me. :)

It was a pretty good class. It's an overview of the basic theories and philosophies of CD1 and also it's going to go over the basics to teaching in early childhood education. That'll be good for me because I want to know more about the teaching aspects since I plan on going into it head first. :)

The teacher is a japanese woman who seems very sweet and fun. She also expects us to listen (which is apparently hard for some people in class to do). She told us that she was going to give us the questions for our reflections essay that's due in 2 weeks. (She wanted to make sure she gave us plenty of time to work on it. Then she went over the syllabus and handed out a 'getting to know you' exercise that she wanted us to turn in on our way out of class. Apparently, this was too difficult for these two women who sat in front of me because they were more interested in their own conversation than what the teacher was saying. So they stupidly stood in my way asking each other if they were supposed to take the half sheet of paper that was titled "Reflection Paper". I said, "Yes, she told us at the beginning of class that she was giving us 2 weeks to work on it." They suddenly sais, "Oh!" and it dawned on them that she indeed said that. They stood there clucking about it while I was trying to drop off my paper and pick up the reflection paper. Argh! Finally they moved! Oy!

Tonight I have my CD4 class and it's in this new bungalow they have out on the field near the gyms. We'll see how fun this class is. It's creative experiences with language, math and reading for children. I noticed that the school replaced those old dingy, gray blinds for some new ones. Plus, they also replaced the chalkboards with greaseboards. Last semester must have been a good semester. :)

So I got out early from class and went home. Berek picked up some pizza from D'Amores and it was great! I didn't feel like cooking at that hour, so he was a real sweetie for doing that. :) I did more cross-stitching while watching Back to the Future and then headed off to bed a little after 10. Apparently Berek didn't go to sleep until a quarter to 2 in the morning! His insomnia got the best of him last night. *sigh* I wish there was something that I could do to get him in bed at a reasonable hour. Ah well.
