Well, this past Monday I went to the dental hygenist to have my teeth cleaned for the first time in over 10 years! It was actually a very pleasant experience and the hygenist expressed her delight in knowing that my teeth weren't in bad shape (like I seemed to think they were). They also took radiographs of my teeth (yay now I have dental records just in case I wind up in the Angeles National Forest!) for the dentist (of whom I'm seeing next Wednesday).
The hygenist said that I'm definately going to need to have my 3 wisdom teeth pulled (oh joy) and that I may have a couple of cavities to be filled, but from what she could see no major work will need to be done. (Mind you, that's her opinion and not the dentists, but still, this is good news to me.) I think I've found the best dental office EVER! Woot! This morning I had my recheck visit with my doctor and my blood pressure is normal! Woot! I've decreased my salt intake to a bit below the normal servings per day. She wasn't happy that I haven't lost much weight since I last saw her, but she and I worked out a regimen that should help. I also was able to report that my heart palpitations are less frequent than they used to be. She told me that they were likely caused by the increased amount of salt I was consuming in my daily nutrition regimen. So she's happy with my overall progression. Now I just need to work on my weight more. :) Yay! So this past weekend we went through a lot of my grandparents stuff because we were clearing the floor space in order to lay new carpeting down in their house. We found letters that my grandpa had written to my grandma while he was in the service before they got married. We found pictures of them at this old club they used to go to called the Coconut Cabana. We found beautiful sketches that my grandmother did of two wedding dresses (too bad I'm not skinny enough to wear something like them!) and also of the house they built together in Woodland Hills (now my uncle's house). It's sooooo cool. We also found her knitting supplies (of which I had no idea she knitted) as well as two pillow cases that she was starting to embroider, but never finished. I have taken on the task of learning how to embroider so that I can finish them for her. My mom is also going to teach me how to knit. :) This makes me very happy! Despite having found this stuff in the wake of their departure from this world, it helps me cope knowing that I've gotten that much closer to them. I am super excited! Berek and I got free tickets for the Renaissance Faire this year from Borders, so we're going to head out there in two weeks (before it gets too hot) and I'm trying to get people together so we can go in a group. We'll see what happens. We missed Ren Faire last year because I got really sick, so hopefully (keep your fingers crossed) this year will be different.
