2008-10-20 10:29 PM Eighteen 2 year-olds! Mood: Excited Read/Post Comments (2) |
So, today I was told that I was going to stay in the 2 year-old room as a permanent teacher. I was what you would call a 'floater' before. And I floated between the infant, young toddler and toddler rooms to afford breaks to the teachers and also provide coverage when there was shortages. Starting in July until today, I was a substitute teacher in the 2 year-old room (aka Teddy Bear room) for a teacher that went on maternity leave. I expected that I would be going back to floating. Except, that the director wanted me to stay on permanently! Woot!
I am totally excited because I have developed attachments to the children in that room. (One would after being in there since July.) But more importantly, I have found that the children have developed attachments to me. There are several children who, when I have been out sick, have asked where I was. I think there were several parents who went to bat for me too, mostly because of their child's attachment to me. :D Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!!!! Anyway, I have indeed found my calling. I enjoy each and everyday that I am in school...and I find that there are rewards for me everyday in seeing the parents and children and how they respond to me. I know that I am making a difference in their lives and this makes me very happy and proud. So I am happy to say that I am an official Preschool Teacher of eighteen 2 year-olds!!!
