I've been trying to be polite, waiting for the Official ToC Announcement, but Mike says that won't be until Friday the 13th (incidentally, both his and my dad's birthday) but I can go ahead and tell people that yes, my Story About The Underside Of Big Bear, "Flow of Time and Water," will be included in IntraCities.

:)!

For me, this isn't just my first sale of a Real Story (the Eggplant thing is just an excerpt from a fictional tourguide.) It's my first Real Story, period.

I usually write vignettes or personal essay type things, and this is the first time I've actually come up with the germ of an idea, done research, figured out an actual plot, and written an entire story, over 2000 words, and completed it.

Goodness.

Hmm. Let's see, I've sold two pieces, I have four others currently in circulation, and I've started doing research for a story that I hope will be good for the RoF/SH type market. I might have re-evaluate my disclaimer about not being A Writer.

(Of course, I could just take Shawn's suggestion that I continue to vehemently deny being A Writer so that my subconscious will keep going, "Oh, yeah? Well, what about this?")

And, again, I say
:)!

I met, not long ago, a young man who aspired to become a novelist. Knowing that I was in the profession, he asked me to tell him how he should set to work to realize his ambition. I did my best to explain. 'The first thing,' I said, 'is to buy quite a lot of paper, a bottle of ink, and a pen. After that, you merely have to write.'
-- Aldous Huxley, novelist (1894-1963)
