My very first prenatal ultrasound had been scheduled for November 1st. I was still seeing my first OB, so the appointment was up the hill. If y'all remember, we ended up being evacuated due to the fires at that time.

I called and rescheduled for the following Saturday (Shawn's school schedule meant he could only come up on weekends, and we really wanted him to be a part of it.) When we showed up, it turned out that there was no paperwork, so they couldn't do the test, so we rescheduled yet again. There were other complications and annoyances, and it basically boiled down to a really big pain before we got to see the baby alien.

You can probably figure out where this is going from the entry title. I took the bus down the hill last night, Shawn picked me up at the station, and we spent the night at Grandma's so we could make it to my 10am ultrasound appointment.

Yep. This time, the tech called in sick. They'd left a message at our home, but we didn't even think to check. I rescheduled for Thursday morning, and we're keeping our fingers crossed.

In other pregnancy development news, I have no sense of body awareness. I'm used to an hourglass figure: if I have to make room for my hips or butt, I have no problem navigating. But my newly expanded belly? Not a clue. I'm constantly bouncing off of counters, knocking things over and getting stuck behind the sofa when I try to reach the phone. My dad was terribly amused when we were in Laughlin: immediately after telling of my girth woes, I walked around a table at the diner to a seat, completely unaware that my belly had grabbed a ketchup bottle and was carrying it with me.

*sigh*

The little one's definitely taking up more room. I've become accustomed to being poked and thumped and gurgled and whatnot, but recently there have been a few times where it actually feels like someone crawling around in there. It's very... odd.

2 1/2 to 3 months to go....
