Les Miserables

We were excited to see that our favorite stage production, Les Miserables is touring again, and we've gotten our tickets for the Chicago engagement.

I love this show. It compresses the (huge!) novel into a manageable story, which is still broad in scope with many layers and facets, and with beautiful and powerful music. It's a love story, a story of dedication and determination, and of social justice and social revolution.

I have seen the production several times since its first tour back in the late 1980's, and I have the DVD of the 25th anniversary concert featuring many of the most well known stars from London and Broadway, including Colm Wilkerson, Judy Kuhn, Lea Salonga and Philip Quast. I just got the piano music for most of the best songs in the musical, and have been plowing through them. I'm sort of nutty about it.

It will be here in February of 2011, and we'll be there seated in the dress circle for one of the performances.
