I'm going to Kate's workshop in the next hour and I have story to workshop there. It's a 9/11 story and it's an idea I had that first Xmas after September 11th. I'm not sure if it's where I want it to be, but I'll find out tonight. Tell me, dear readers, what would you do if you were on a boat Xmas Eve, 2004, and you picked up a castaway who has been gone since September 10th, 2001? If he asked you the news and what has changed, would you tell him about 9/11 right away? Would you first get him off the deck and showered and fed, then tell him? What would you FEEL the moment you realized you were the messenger? (keeping in mind it's two years after the event and it's Xmas Eve.)

It would give me pause, I think. Maybe I'm reaching too far for a story or trying too hard. Maybe it's too contrived. Kate's workshop will at least tell me what I do have in this draft.
