Yup, it's September 11.

After last year, I swore I was going to sleep through September 11th's.

Two years ago, my relationship with my former fiancee, Rhonda, ended on this date. While I was the one who initiated the breakup, it still wasn't a pleasant experience by any stretch of the imagination.

Last year, on the same date, a bunch of maniacs blew a sizeable chunk out of my hometown, nearly dropped a building on my brother, and killed a few thousand people because of some warped religious / political agenda they had. Because, you know, the best way to get people to listen to you and respect you is mass murder. *sigh*

This year, I vowed to just skip September 11. Because, hell, with my track record, I'd probably get run over by a stray moon or kidnapped and anally probed by aliens or something equally unpleasant.

Strangely enough, I made it. Practically buried myself in work at the Hospital, and specifically avoided any of the memorials that were being held today (while it's a nice gesture, and I've got no problems with them, I still have problems seeing pictures of the Towers fall, especially since I used to work in them myself... summer after the first bombing).

So here's to the future, folks. Better and brighter all the way... although if I do get kidnapped by aliens in the next, oh... hour and eighteen minutes after this is posted and before today ends here in lovely Los Angeles, I'll make sure to let everyone know (you'll hear the screaming from orbit).
