Everything was going pretty well this morning... at least, until I got to work. I had my entire schedule set in my head - what I needed to get done, how long I needed to do it, and what that would leave me with for tomorrow.

So what happens? I start up my laptop this morning, hear a rather loud *ka-CHUNK* noise from inside it, and get this message on the screen:

1782-DISK CONTROLLER FAILURE

Needless to say, I now have a large black Compaq paperweight on my desk. Information systems says it sounds like my hard drive went belly-up, and they're trying to find me a replacement computer as I write this (I'm on another workstation right now, in an empty office). The only thing I can get my usual computer to do is give me the annoying "Non-System disk or disk error - replace and strike any key when ready" message.

I'm about ready to strike all the keys, with a sledgehammer.

It's going to be one of those days...
