Woohoo! The Music of the Stars is FINISHED! This doesn't even just represent the last six months of writing. I had the idea for this novel back in 1996, when I was a nineteen-year-old French horn performance major at the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music and had just taken a Baroque Music History course that blew my mind. I tried to write it then, gave up...and tried again, from various angles, using various different types of characters, about once every year or so from then until this past September, when the real protagonists of this story finally fit themselves neatly into my mind.

Can I just say how amazingly good it feels to have finally done it?

It's just over 47,000 words, which is seriously fat for a middle-reader novel (aimed at kids around 9-13 years old), and I'm going to need a good long break before revising this one.

But I am just incredibly happy right now.
