Mamma Mia!
Previous Entry :: Next Entry

Mood:
fairly bouncy

Okay, so I'm still a little bouncy from the dance numbers in Mamma Mia. It was a fun show to go to. The story itself was nice, and I liked where they stuck in the songs. It is different than seeing a show where the songs were written for the show, because a lot of the songs I already knew, and already have other memories tied into them (including covers made of some of the songs by such bands as Erasure). Dance numbers were imaginative and funky (funky in a good way).

I do have a major critique though, and it's for the audiences. Los Angeles theater audiences really need to remove the sticks from their asses and actually decide to have FUN when they see a show. At some point in time, theater became a high class snooty thing. People pay a lot for tickets, and dress up all fancy, and sit straight faced during the show. That's NOT how it's supposed to be folks! A lot of New York has got it right, and that's real Broadway. If you cant smile or bounce around when they're practically doing a disco number on stage, then you're missing the whole point. Loosen up folks. From what I hear, London has the best audiences around, who love being there and have fun. And they have it right, it's not exclusive or "high class" or even close to as expensive as here.

I'll show them... Now I can't wait for The Producers. It was one of the highlights of my New York trip. Of course, we'll have to actually sit this time around (we had standing tickets last time, which were fabulous).

In other news, still trying to put out fires here at work. People seem to be working a bit harder after the meeting yesterday. It looks like some of the goals are to eventually have my group concentrate more on tickets and less on phone support.

I do have mixed feeling about one thing I heard yesterday. Apparently, we're not as broken as I thought, and only over 20% of our customers for my company have even used support. This means that our product is, relatively speaking, fairly stable for the customer base. It also means that support could go away and over half of the customers would probably not notice.

*sigh*

Things would be more promising if I got my title change, it was supposed to happen quite some time ago, but is still frozen with everything else.
