of being a nonentity.

I now report to a person whom I never met, who has no real idea of what I do, and am only working here until such point as my little section of the company is sold off or otherwise disposed of. Some of the people who work with me are still unclear as to who they report to or exactly what their function is, other than adjust to recent changes and prepping the groups (ours and remote groups) for the changes. Everything from the ticket system to the focus of where support happens for many customers will be changing. This may be for the benifit of customers more than I realize, but it is to early to tell.

My former boss is not with the company as of today, and my other former boss has nothing to do with my department anymore.

My former boss, great guy, one of the last sincere, dedicated, driven individuals, told us quite some time ago that we should continue as normal, and not get worried, and when something goes wrong, he'd let us know...

... well, that meeting took place today, and continued during an extended lunch at CPK.

It sucks losing him, but at the same time he's better off. He is leaving before the corporate black hole sucks him dry of his integrity. It leaves us feeling a bit more vulnerable, but at least we have a heads up of a couple of months before any bigger changes happen.

The future of my little group is yet to be determined, but determination will be within the next two to three months, this much is certain.

Hoping my new boss introduces himself to me on Monday.

Trying to keep people on task for now. Kinda failing at keeping myself on task right now.

And to top it all off, went to the eye doctor today to get the DMV form filled out. Same as always, no change on my bad eye (the left has a cataract) but apparently I have astigmatism, mild, in my good eye. I've avoided wearing my previous glasses because I don't really like them, and they only had enough correctiveness so that my insurance could pay for them (they were "protective" glasses) but should probably get used to these new ones, between reading, driving, and computer work, I cannot afford to have these babies get worse.

I take my written test at the DMV tomorrow, then get another permit.

I will get my liscence soon, yes, very very soon.
