Snow in LA?

While I stayed home the other night, being scared by all that lightening and thunder, watching TV instead of writing, the following apparently happened in LA and Watts (All pics are from the LA Times and were posted on another journal):

I tried to track down the article from the LA times website but it won't even let me search for it without registering for the site. Grr.

I did find an article that mentioned about a foot of hail in some places:

http://www.nytimes.com/2003/11/14/national/14HAIL.html?ex=1069390800&en=633a01919da82e28&ei=5062&partner=GOOGLE

The article also mentioned that since there was snow in the mountains as opposed to rain, there was less landsliding than was expected. I think that's cool.

And before there's a debate as to whether it was hail or snow, I'm going to just say that it was crunchy snow!
