Nothing Much

So I ducked out of work early yesterday because I wasn’t feeling too well. I was so “sick” that I stopped at three video stores on the way home to find the DVDs that I felt like watching. That makes twice in four days that I’ve ducked out of work, and while I would like to say that I “deserve a break,” the fact that it’s the second of the month and I’ll need to hide from my landlord for the next few days would contradict such a claim. I guess I’m just a slacker.

It was lovely, really. I settled in with Before Sunrise and Before Sunset, and absolutely…absolutely LOVED them both. Any words I could try to use to describe them wouldn’t be adequate. I fully expect to toddle home and watch Before Sunset again tonight. I ache just thinking about it. I followed those two with Vanity Fair, though I couldn’t really stand the thought of Reese Witherspoon as Becky Sharp. I was surprised that I enjoyed it.

So tonight there will be more DVD action (I still have to watch The Grudge), and I finally managed to pick up a book to read that didn’t bore me just by looking at it. My last trip to Borders was just as disappointing as the one last week where I wandered listlessly from shelf to shelf and walked out empty handed, but yesterday something managed to catch my eye as I was making my dejected exit. Hopefully this one isn’t another dud.

I’m also, for some godforsaken reason that completely contradicts my recent vow to start eating healthier, cannot stop thinking about Bubble & Squeak, and am wondering if my grocery store sells cottage ham. Of course, I’m not even sure I have the cooking utensils necessary to peel potatoes or boil the necessary ingredients, but I really must cook this tonight. There’s no way around it. No more Lean Cuisines, damn it.
