Papal Combat

Sure, my thirteen years of Catholic education and having a Mormon mother might have done something to contribute to my antagonistic views towards organized religion...but now that the new Pope has been chosen, and I've actually had a chance to read up on the man, I'm thinking that my drunken ramblings from last weekend as to how the new guy should have been chosen would probably have been more effective...

There needs to be some sort of pope-tastic video game created by some gaming geek, and the Vatican needs to have one of those geek parties (I say "geek" with love) where a bunch of computers are networked together for a tournament of sorts. Potential popes will sequester themselves for hours to smite the wicked and earn Miracle Points in order to attain the Popedom (and possible Sainthood).

Maybe the game developers could design a bishop-on-bishop cage match feature where the candidates face off. As the potentials gain power they would also have the right to issue Pointless And Counterproductive Edicts with the accumulation of Miracle Points (they could really bank them for the biggies, like banning abortion and contraception). There will definitely be a Popes In History aspect to the game, where each Pope Hopeful could have the chance to gain even more Miracle Points by selling indulgences and acquiring concubines.

Man, I want to play that game now!
