I've never been to Portland. I haven't even been close. I know absolutely nothing about the city. My only experience with Oregon has to do with the computer game, "Oregon Trail," that I loved so much in grade school. I enjoyed the hunting, watching my children die of dysentery, and writing up tomb stones bearing messages of love to the New Kids.

For some reason, however, I think it would be really great to live there. I have no *idea* why. I envision it as some sort of tofutopia, with plenty of gorgeous places to walk my dogs, lots of used book stores, and at least one artist or writer in every house.

And now, after checking the blog of my favorite cook book author (http://www.theppk.com/blog/), I finally find that everyone in Portland gets a unicorn.
