Dispatches from the City of Angels

I'm a writer and humorist living in and writing about Los Angeles. You can catch my novel LOSING CLEMENTINE out March 6 from William Morrow. In the meantime, feel free to poke around. Over at my website you can find even more blog entries than I could fit here, as well as a few other ramblings. Enjoy and come back often.

I'm officially hanging with celebrities

Sometimes living in L.A., you spot a celebrity. And sometimes, you hold them and rub their tummies.

Fans of the T.V. show Heroes may recognize the canine star lounging in my lap as none other than Mr. Muggles. I was attending a holiday party at a friend's new house. So, it turns out, was Mr. Muggles. (real name: Lestat)

He goes to lots of parties, along with his sister who's also in the biz. According to his owner/trainer, it's good for his socialization. I think it's working too well. Pomeranians are normally hyped-up, little speed freaks. This guy was like a stuffed toy that breathed. He laid so long in my lap, I started to wonder if I should be checking for a pulse. And nothing ruins your party buzz like thinking a dog might have just died in your lap - double that if the dog draws a paycheck.

He's five pounds and nothing but fur, and he has his own wiki page. I took his card. I think we're doing lunch.
