Plain Banter
. . . lies about science fiction, and everything else.

When the writer becomes the center of his attention, he becomes a nudnik. And a nudnik who believes he's profound is even worse than just a plain nudnik. -- Isaac Bashevis Singer

It's the most wonderful time of the year

One of my neighbors put up his Christmas (pardon, "year-end celebration") lights, yesterday, and turned them on last night.

Now, I understand why stores start so early with the holiday decorations (it's just business, you know), but I'm at a loss to explain why someone would want to make their house look like a winter wonderland already. The temperature is in the 70's this time of the year in my neck of the woods, so I'm not exactly feeling too Christmassy yet, and that blinking snowman on the neighbor's wall just doesn't do it for me.

Humbug.
