Bach's "Christmas Oratorio"

On Saturday 11 December 2004 I sang with The Llewellyn Choir in its performance of J.S. Bach's "Christmas Oratorio".

Well, actually, between the rehearsal the night before of Cantatas 1-3, that day's rehearsal of Cantatas 4-6, and the performance, we sang it twice through in 26 hours!

I also feel for the soloists.

The website is at www.llewellynchoir.org.au, and there is a photo of the performance and others of the soloists. I'm the "tallest" person, in the back row, centre-stage (well, just to the right as you look at it.) My wife is in the middle (3rd) row, fifth from the right of the image among the Altos.

The bassoonist was tremendous: Her work-rate was phenomenal! She was playing most of the time! In this image you can just see her, tucked in behind the stage-organ.

Our repetiteur (rehearsal accompanist) is playing the organ. He's just so good, too.
