Rocky, my rescued, red dachshund is at the vet this am...he was in dire need of a dental. I rescued him last Feb. 2007 from a JERK! Rocky is a standard dachshund, who weighed like 30 lbs prior to the surrender. He weighed 9 (yes, NINE) frikken lbs. when he gave him to my vet, had no body temp., very little blood count...and was at death's door!!! He was heart/whip/hook worm positive, besides being a bag of bones!!! I have never seen a more pitiful case of animal cruelty!!! He could only crawl....the vet tech took him home that night with warmed IV fluids...she was in the shower, and he crawled into the room to lay on the mat to be with her. My vet worked hard to save him...it took 6 months to get him built up enough to get him in shape to go thru the worm treatments....late last fall he was finally done with the heartwprm treatment, and he weighs 18lbs. He is such a love bug....cuddles with everyone, and LOVES women!!!! He has no bad habits at all...does NOT pee in the house at all.....doesn't mark or spray as little boys tend to do....and he is so laid back.
I will see if I can add a pic of how this little guy looked...long and short of it...he went thru the dental fine....I can get him this afternoon..and he has gorgeous white teeth and fresh breath!!! He had some pus pockets under the plaque....so will get antibiotics and a yearly dental!!! He is 6 years old and a russet red....gorgeous little boy!!!
