Office Mates

I thought it was just me or that I was being more sensitive than others. Nope, my officemate, that holds the same job title but does not: do time, order supplies, cover the front desk, or do any of the 'secretarial' duties went off on the divisions Analyst yesterday. 'How dare you send the detail offer of a secretarial position to me? I will never do those jobs again!' This was after the officemate responded to the email in the negative. Officemate is burning bridges, and officemate's manager has been told.

She causes stress with her verbal observations. I didn't realize how much until yesterday. Another secretary got a job with Dept of Defense-promotion, closer to home, potential. This secretary is a sweetheart. Anyway, I got to see her in the hallway, wished her best of luck and gave her a hug, and shared with her a couple of hints of dealing with the active duty Army she will be dealing with. I.E. don't let them start buying you drinks at lunch-mainly joking around. (this secretary was working in a bar/restaurant to make ends meet-she was taking my hints in the same manner I was giving them!) I get back to my desk and office mate says, "I'm glad to see you and M are back on speaking terms." WTH? I looked at officemate and said ?. She said,"Well, one day on the phone you were upset with her." Folks that was a long time ago and wasn't even the same secretary!! Not only that, she listens to my phone conversations!!!

One of the secretaries here is taking the buy out. She has been eligible to retire for 2 years, so it makes sense to go now. I am friends with the analyst in her unit and we are working together to figure out how supplies etc are going to be handled-job sharing. I have offered my assistance and advised my boss of that. I told her to put a bug in her boss's ear to put a bug in my boss's ear to allow me to move into the leaving secretaries desk. This way, the room I am in would all be under 1 manager!! Makes sense doesn't it. Considering the other room has different managers anyway!

On a better note, I finished the prayer shawl last night. All the ends are woven in. I am bringing home the address for L so I can mail it to her. I hope it brings her some comfort.

I started knitting a lapghan for my DD-gray and black basket weave pattern, we'll see how it goes!!
