She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Not Sunday

AETW: 1213

It’s strange; all day yesterday, it felt like today would be Sunday, because Ken would be home. I still feel disjointed. I got up early to go to my chiro appt., and now my neck is feeling better, ‘though not perfect. We’ve just arranged my flight to Virginia for next month, and, after some thought and discussion, decided I won’t fly to Portland this month for a weekend. We don’t have the frequent flyer miles for it, and it’s an expense that I don’t think we can justify right now. Plus, the library needs to get done, and we’d be better off taking that weekend—as well as the planned Labor Day weekend—to finish it. I can’t wait! I’m looking forward to unpacking all the books and getting them organised. Although I suspect the renovation is going to take longer than those two weekends, at any rate. Ah well.

All the china &tc. that my parents gave us arrived today. Three boxes plus my grandfather’s portrait. Eek, more boxes to unpack!

Hey, yay me! Just finished Chapter 10. I’m now on p. 125, rolling towards 40K words. Whee.

After midnight now. Ken did lots more computer work today, helping his brother with his laptop this evening while I entertained folks for sewing night and got some handwork and embroidery done. He thought he’d messed up the main computer in the process, but I poked at it and got something working, and then he took over and actually got it fully functional again. While he was doing that, I tried to sit and read, but the fact that I hadn’t hit my 1K today was bugging me, so I grabbed a legal pad and pen… Another 600+ words. Sweet.

Oh, Ken also put another coat of paint on the library ceiling. (I would have done it, but my neck is still owie, although it’s better thanks to the therapeutic massage at the chiro’s office.) It’s still not the shade I’d intended, but it’s the colour it’s going to be, and it’s very pretty at any rate. We’ll take the weekend of the 17th and 18th to work on the panelling and mouldings, etc., and Labor Day weekend to work on the shelves.

Tomorrow, he’s back to work. Other than food shopping, I intend to devote the day to working. I need to bump up my daily minimum to at least 1500 words to catch up on the Dare, and write Chapters 11 and 12. I’d like to get my second vignette of Iris done this week. And I have to trim 500 words off of “Stranger to my Shores”, an fantasy erotica that Teresa and I have been working on for ages and have finally finished. It’s 6500 words, and there’s a good market that takes 6000 word stories.
