Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Sleeping with your head in Stonehenge

Ken’s using the other computer so I’ll start a temp journal here so I can get caught up. He spent most of yesterday extending the desk in the study. It now goes along the entire wall under the window, with one arm extending towards the door and the other along the opposite wall (which is the arm with the shelves above it). I’m still fiddling with where to put things. But we can both sit in here and work, which is…comforting.

We actually got a lot done yesterday. We were going to go to the Tall Ships at Dana Point, but we needed to sleep in… I did some computer work, and then we straightened the living room, ran the dishwasher and cleaned the kitchen counters, did three loads of laundry, and so forth. He also vacuumed. While he was working on the desk, I made belts (link belts are back in style, which are perfect for cotehardies, especially if you buy two and put them together. I made one out of antique gold with tigers’ eyes, and another out of silver equal-armed crosses. The latter left me with a single cross and a bunch of round metal bits, so I made a goth-y choker for mundane wear.), and talked to Teresa about some of the collaborations we’re working on. Then I watched the season premiere of “Charmed” and did some lucet weaving. I found an ep of “Buffy” on at midnight, and even though we’d seen it before, we got sucked in, so we got to bed later than planned.

Today I had a chiro appt, then took the Volvo to Trikon. Waited for Ken to get off the phone. Went to Fry’s with him. We both came home for lunch, and then he took the Volvo back to work because someone’s flying down from Portland today and needs it. Astute readers will note that this means I don’t have a car at my disposal now. The worst part is, Ken’ll be in Portland Wednesday through Friday. Argh!

I prepped six stories to mail today, getting all the lingering ones off my desk. That’s cool. I also finished the Amenities Booklet for GWW, which involved some swearing and bouncing between OS 9 and X.2, and Ken mucking with the computer to convince it I really have the fonts I do. At some point this evening while he was doing that, I took something out to the garage. Came back in. “Honey, why is your bike standing in a pool of gasoline?” Turns out it wasn’t anything major, but he had to phutz with it for awhile. Argh. This meant that we didn’t have time to go out for food, so I threw on some frozen pasta things (bundles of pasta with chicken and cheese) and sauce. Sauce counted as vegetables, since there was nothing else in the house. Must go shopping tomorrow night so I have enough good stuff to eat while he’s gone…

Eostre is lying on a table with her head in the middle of a replica of Stonehenge. That just explains so much…
