Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Busy day

BH: 612

Had a wonderful, much-need chiro appt today; I’d been hurting for awhile and as a result my left shoulder was a rock again. They were busy and I had to wait longer than usual, so I got a longer massage. Can’t complain about that. Anni used a new machine on me, one that not only does ultrasound but also makes your muscles contract and relax. I’m not sure I liked it very much. It didn’t hurt (well, not much, anyway) but it’s rather disturbing having your muscles jump without your own volition. The downside was, by the time I left, I was developing a headache. I went to the Psychic Eye and picked up some stuff for a friend, then headed straight home, also because I was starving. Costco and Walmart could wait.

Had a salad with tuna in it and a piece of bread and melted mozarella, and then Ken arrived home for lunch. We had a bit of time to talk and plan out a few things. He’s off to Portland on Wednesday, with his usual Friday return. Although he’s leaving in the afternoon, so he might stay home in the a.m. on Wednesday.

By the time he left, I had a massive headache, so I took a large dose of Ibuprofen and sat in the hot tub for a little while, reading a Silhouette. Which inspired me somewhat, because when I came back inside, I wrote about 150 words. Then I made popcorn and read some more. And wrote another 100 words or so. Heh. I’ve got this chapter pretty well mapped out, so it should go smoothly and quickly.

I copyedited another article, yay, but didn’t get much of anything else on my To Do list done, given how late I got home and the ensuing headache. But that’s what tomorrow is for. Now, time to do a few small things, and then watch “Charmed” and exercise.

I actually got a personalized rejection for a story I sent to The Sun. I just about fell over in shock, given that eons ago I sent a request for guidelines (with a SASE) and never heard back. She was specific about how my story was wrong in style, but said I have talent [g] and she’d like to see more from me—and then gave me her direct e-mail address. So, coolness there. I have two stories I’m going to try and edit down for them, but first I’ll pick up another issue or two, given that I don’t see what she’s trying to say based on the one story I’ve read.
