She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Vascillation

I?ve had to shoo Ferdinand and Isabella out of the pool three times this morning, and it?s only 9:05 a.m. After the second time, I came back inside, sat down at the computer, and looked outside to see them land right back in the pool. Dammit. I feel bad that we can?t share our space with them, but they?ve already pooped on the concrete once today. Gods only know how many feathers are on their way to clogging the filter.

Happy birthday to my mom! I forgot to mention that 27 Feb was my dad?s birthday, too. All sorts of birthdayness. My family crammed all of our birthdays into the first five months of the year?my sisters are in February and early May. It took my nieces and nephews to break the cycle.

Six times. Six times today I?ve had to chase away those stubborn ducks.

What else? I sent out my party invite via e-mail, and already people are RSVP-ing! With mostly yesses! Huzzah! I did two-and-a-half loads of laundry (one?s still in the dryer). I ran the dishwasher (but haven?t unloaded it). I?ve read through chapters 6, 7, and part of 8. This seems to be Not Quite Finished Day.

I seem to be vascillating (what a good word that is!) between tiredness and mild anxiety. It?s a very full month for us, and I don?t feel like there?s enough time for everything. At the same time, we have lots of fun stuff planned, so I don?t want to _miss_ the month. I just wanted to add a few days to it. (Is that too much to ask?) It didn?t help that I had a headache this morning (the same one as yesterday, actually). I finally battled it back after lunch, huzzah.

Tomorrow we?re off to Collegium in Bakersfield. Ken?s going to leave work early (we plan) so we can get to Meg?s by 3:30 when she gets home from work. Thus we?ll miss traffic getting to her, and we?ll not hit the worst of the Friday rush hour traffic heading north from there. I have a list, and I?ve made trail mix and printed out directions. I just haven?t a clue what to wear. (Oh, swoon.) It feels like forever since we?ve been to an event. I think I?ve forgotten what garb I even own.

I got two new Sage jobs today, much to my surprise. I?ve been waiting to hear from somebody for a week and a half. One is labelled ?rush? and due in 10 days. The other is also due in 10 days. I have no sample copies to work from, nor any specs. Argh. I?ll start reading through the rush job tomorrow, either way. It?s not nearly as long as the last one, which makes me feel a little less stressed about it.

Dinner?s done. Dishes are done. Laundry?s done. Most of the stuff for the weekend is packed. We even sanded all of the wood for the corner shelves, and if we get back at a decent hour on Sunday, we can stain them. Ken has to leave disgustingly early Monday to fly to Boston, though, so we?ll have to see.

I just got a spam e-mail about pure silk fabric from India. I realised a moment later that something probably scanned my journal and found ?dupioni?. Scary. But at least it was spam about?you know what? I?m not going to say. Because it might increase the spam about it.

Tani, the wonderful woman who took me to the Jim Ladd?s Living Room Show (although I?m banned from saying ?thank you? again to her) sent me a picture of me with JY and Tommy. I look rather maniacal, because I?m looking up at the guy holding my camera rather than at Tani?s camera. JY and Tommy are looking at Tani?s camera. I look like I?m about to start frothing at the mouth. I made the pic my laptop backdrop, because it amuses me.

When I start working on ALNM, both of the computers will have backdrops of Larry. One of them will be of his butt.

I have the prettiest rose on my desk right now. It was drooping off one of our rose bushes, so I snipped it. It?s perfect, and it?s pink with a yellow centre, and it smells gorgeous.

This is a very disjointed, long post, isn?t it? I suppose I should end it, because it?s late and I?m sleepy. G?night!
