Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

BH: editing
crow story: 109

It’s 1:20 and Ken’s already on his way home! Huzzah! I was about to go sit in the hot tub for a few minutes because my shoulder hurts, but now we can sit together. Yay.

I’ve done a few hours of Sage work today; it’s going more smoothly than last time because now I have a better handle on what I’m doing, and I’m also doing some parts of it a little differently, which seems to be far more efficient in the long run.

I had a few good phrases pop into my head for the crow story, and wrote them down. Here’s an excerpt:

“It was only in the darkest part of the night that she indulged in a festival of weeping, when no one could hear. When the despair fluttered down and smothered her like the wings of a hundred crows.”

I think I’m going to be a total geek and take the laptop with me this weekend. (Actually, the total geek part comes from the fact that I’m going to use the Palm and keyboard to take notes.) I can work in the car, and Saturday evening while we’re lounging. Mostly answering e-mail and other such things that don’t require intense concentration, but would be nice to get done. And I owe niece Baylee a letter, too.

Much later: Yup, we’re being geeks. We’re in the hotel room, watching random TV like “While You Were Out” and the Top 100 Albums on VH-1, and Meg and I have duelling Mac laptops. Although we’re not really duelling. It’s nice and mellow and relaxing.
