She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Bad news

This is a bad day. Ken got laid off. The semiconductor industry isn’t bouncing back, and his company has been letting people go left and right, but we truly didn’t expect this. He’s been with the company 8 years and has done some amazing stuff for them. He’s completely turned around one customer who thought the company sucked. He’s saved them a ton of money this year in other ways.

So. We’re reeling. He’s going to contact a few customers and see if he can get some contract work. He is getting some severance pay, which will help. I’d been planning to send out some résumés after Sarah left; this just speeds up the process.

We’ll get through. No question about that. It may not be easy, but we can do it.

In other news, I had a somewhat stressful dentist appt today with lots of novocaine, and I did a lot of copy editing, and finished the handwork needed on my cotehardie. It’s been pretty hard to concentrate, though—which isn’t surprising, really. I want to work on the ALNM prologue, but it’s so hard to focus. I hate that, I really do.
