Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Enthusiasmic

Encouraging rejection from Abyss & Apex for “The Sultan’s Sons”, one of the stories I sent out yesterday. I have some ideas of where to send it next, which is nice.

I had a _lovely_ visit from Christine today! It’s so wonderful to talk writing with an enthusiastic, positive, working/producing writer. We also talked about lots of other stuff, but writing was a main topic. Darn it, I wish she lived closer! It’s my turn to visit her next time…

After she left, I went and picked up the Combat Booklets from the copy shop. Discovered a major booboo, entirely my fault, although I may have to fire my proofreader. 8-) Not sure if I should hand-correct 2,500 booklets; remove staples from 2,500 booklets, have new covers printed at my expense, and use my own electric saddle stapler to reconstruct the booklets; or pretend I didn’t know about the error(s). [bonk head on desk] I’m a little tired, so now is not the time to think about the problem or the potential solutions.

I also went to Michael’s and picked up yarn for a belt I’m weaving for a promissory. I have a few other minor projects to finish first, but when I’m ready for this one, I’ll have all the bits to do it.
