She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

It's true about the chin

Just whipped out business cards for Maren. Heh. I so rock. (Can you tell the morning cup of tea has hit my system?)

Oh, a very wonderful person sent me pictures of me getting my Crescent. If you’d like to see them, e-mail me (directly, rather than as a comment to the journal, please). I may not get to your request until after the War, though. If I had time, I’d put them on a webpage, but right now, I don’t have that time!

We ran a few errands today—new DVR that actually records, huzzah!—and then went to Pasadena to a car show type thing that Ken’s dad and wife do every week. It’s in the parking lot of a Fuddrucker’s Restaurant, and people bring either old cars or custom cars and hang out and look at each other’s cars. We all had dinner; I had an ostrich burger, because ostrich is yummy, with three kinds of cheese and grilled onions, along with a salad, and Ken and I split onion rings. Then I sat inside and did a little work on the Palm (letters and articles) while they went outside and looked at cars.

So I’m working, and my phone rings. I say hello, but the restaurant is noisy and I can’t hear anyone at the other end. This scenario repeats. As I’m putting the phone away, I see Ken enter the restaurant, and he says he wants to show me something outside. Curious, I pack up and go with him. It’s this enormous custom car that looks retro. Then he points out who brought it.

Jay Leno.

Well, how spiff is that? I’ve always respected Jay for not just having a garage full of cars and bikes, but of actually playing with them, riding/driving them, working on them, etc. Apparently he comes to this gathering every so often, to check out the cars just like everybody else. He signed autographs, posed for pictures, and seemed very gracious and laid back. First time I’ve really wished I had a phone camera or Palm camera. I haven’t had a star sighting in awhile, and it was neat. He’s shorter than I expected (although not short), and yes, the chin is just as big as it looks. ;-)

The Combat Booklets are done! The Combat Booklets are done! Two thousand five hundred booklets have corrected tables of contents! [Crosses project firmly off list.]
