She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Nightfoundering

Ken’s home, Ken’s home. [cue singsong voice, dancing around room, etc.] And he’s home for three days!

I had an impromptu Halloween get-together last night. Cat and I, plus Meala and Aisha. We ate pizza and watched “Practical Magic” and “Deadly Advice” (the black comedy set in Hay-on-Wye that I adore), and a few videos in between. Ken arrived towards the end of that, and after M&A left and C was in bed, we watched the “Angel” from two weeks ago. Which was truly creepy. Not as creepy as, say, the “Buffy” ep where dead people came back and Dawn was alone in the house being attacked. I think maybe I was too braced for creepy, given the warning. Although the partial nudity was Spike, which was festive enough [eg].

I also got all sorts of Samhain presents in the mail yesterday, in the form of the various DVDs I ordered. I immediately popped in the Styx one, but almost hurt myself trying to straighten the living room while not taking my eyes off the TV for a millisecond, so I allowed myself to watch a couple songs, then turned it off. But omigod, whuf, “A Criminal Mind” is hot hot hot. When Ken called, I told him he was going to be a lucky man last night. Heh heh heh. Anyway, I was a good hostess and did not force any of the guests to watch Styx.

Yesterday’s word was “Nightfoundered: Distressed for want of knowing the way in the night.” I like that.

We slept a long time. Ken’s not feeling well—coughing, etc.—so he took Nyquil. At noon, I got up and brought bkfst in bed—sodas and leftover pizza—but he fell back asleep. I think I hear him moving around now. So anyway, like I said, he’s not going back until Tuesday morning, so we have three days to catch up on things and play a bit, too. He’ll get back on the 7th, late, and then doesn’t leave for Korea until the 17th, I think. Which rearranges some of my November plans, but nothing major.

I forgot to mention that our illustrious leader has named this Protection from Pornography week. He’s unable to distinguish between harmful child pornography and healthy erotica, it seems. Me, I’m going to rent some movies and/or write some stories in protest, because what I need protection from is President Shrubbery, not from the natural expression of and my enjoyment of my own sexuality.

We watched the next episode of “Angel”, which was fun (and had Angel nudity—nearly as much as Spike’s, but no warning!), which has us caught up on that. Then we watched the premiere ep of “Tru Calling”. It was pretty good, actually. Some reasonable twists. Some things were kind of hard to swallow, but there are a lot of shows that test my suspension of disbelief. Eliza looked very yummy. I deleted the show from the DVR w/o thinking; I probably should have dumped it to tape and saved all the eps. Ah well.

And now, we’re tired and coughing, and the house is a little cold. Bed sounds very good.
