Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Freedom of Expression Night!

Happy Freedom of Expression Night! Go out and express your freedom! Remember: It ain’t the music that’s in question/It’s more the freedom of expression.

I got no writing done yesterday. I went to bed feeling very guilty about it, too. I did clean up my list of anthologies and projects, and I have a variety of things to work on—but I have to pick one and get in the mindset. My NaNoWriMo goal is to write every day, probably with a minimum of 1K words, but that’s not so much required as the every-day goal. I have stories to write, stories to rewrite (which may take less than 1K, or, at least, are harder to count words on), and a novel to get back to. There are two erotica anthos with a 1 Dec deadline (one is for stories of 1.5K, so there’s a couple hours of work), and one spec fic antho with a 31 Dec deadline. Today, I will definitely write.

I’ll also finish copy editing, leaving indexing and sending for tomorrow. Which is cool. Ken’s back up to Portland on Tuesday for four days (although that could be extended), and I’m very tempted to go up with him.

We slept very late today, ate something quick because we were starving, and made “breakfast” at 3 p.m. Omelettes with fresh parmesan, baby spinach, and green onions; bacon (an experiment with turkey bacon—it pretty much sucked); honey wheat toast; and cantaloupe. Mmmmm.

Last night as I was falling asleep, I came up with an idea for the Anthology from Hell (yes, that’s really what it’s called). I’ve spent a little time researching it today. I don’t have a plot, but I have a premise, and that’s a good start. I’m curious to see what my subconscious will spew forth!
