Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Almost there

Oy. What a day. I ended up staying home while Ken took Tracy and Patrick to Beverly Hills, Mulholland Drive, Santa Monica, and Venice. (It’s 5:30 p.m. and they’re not home yet; I figured they’ll be back in a few hours). I just had way too much stuff to do.

So far, I’ve
* finished copy editing and indexing, and sent the journal bits and the invoices
* done three loads of laundry (some still needs to be sorted)
* done dishes
* answered some e-mail
* got some things in the mail
* assorted other small things

Still to do (by the time we leave):
* fold, staple, label, stamp, and mail the GP
* finish Dyeing For Her and send it
* find the travel books in the garage
* make a hotel reservation (eep)
* clean out e-mail In Box
* install more computer programs
* pack
* write and mail thank-you notes
* go to the used bookstore (25% off coupon, plus a bunch of books to take in)
* mail more Yule presents
* deliver two Yule presents
* make labels for postcards during our travels
* pay bills
* assorted other small things

So, onwards!

Much later. The GP is ready to go, thanks to the assistance of Tracy and Patrick. Ken is dealing with the reservation. I’ve installed StickyBrain again. I’ve packaged up another Yule present box to mail. It’s getting late, but I think I’ll pay some bills, and definitely get the story sorted.

Ken et al. brought Versailles (Cuban) food home for supper, which was fabulous as always. We watched “Knightriders”, because all SCAdians must see it, and T&P hadn’t, and I did some weaving, and Ken and I undecortated the tree.

I have to say, I’m thankful for my health right now. Almost everyone I know is sick, or getting over being sick. Other than feeling vaguely scratchy the other day, I’ve been fine (knock on wood). Guess that daily Echinacea is working.

Ack. Well, I should toddle off to bed, as it’s nearly 1 a.m. I did get the story finished and mailed. I can’t really give a word count; I deleted and added. But it’s done, by the deadline, and that’s a good thing.
