Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

The ugly fuzzies

Eek! New Year’s Eve already!

Next year, we’re doing this differently. I want to schedule down time on Xmas Day, and I don’t want to have company, be working, _and_ prep for an upcoming trip all at the same time.

Today’s going okay, though. I didn’t get enough sleep again, so I’m a little worried about the beginning of the trip. I can’t sleep on planes, so if I don’t get a decent night’s sleep tonight, things could get ugly (or very fuzzy). Of course, who gets a decent night’s sleep on New Year’s Eve?!

We saw Tracy and Patrick off this morning. So far today, I’ve mailed packages and bought cat füd, paid all bills for the next two weeks, and updated Quicken (which was a chore, given that it included adding all the things since the computer died in mid-November). I’ve made postcard labels. I’m working on an extensive document for the trip (what to take, what we’re doing or what to do/see, what people have asked us to get for them, etc.). I’ve decided that despite the 25% off coupon, the used bookstore isn’t going to happen.

Still to do (by the time we leave):
* find the travel books in the garage
* clean out e-mail In Box
* pack
* write and mail thank-you notes
* assorted other small things
