She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Sorry for the downer entry yesterday! I’ve waited to post it until this one is done, because yesterday got markedly better.

To clarify: The WB is declining to carry “Angel” after this season. Hopefully UPN will snatch it up.

In early evening, Muirenn called to chat, because her evening plans had been cancelled. “Come on over!” I invited, because Maren and Cat and I were going to watch “Chicago” anyway. So she did, bringing with her a scrummy pasta salad. We ordered pizza, hung out, and watched half of “Chicago”, because the DVD crapped out. I’ll get a refund and we’ll rent it later (Muirenn had already seen it—is a big fan, in fact—so as long as I can get Maren and Cat in the same room together for a couple of hours, we’re good to go). Cat went to bed partway through anyway. We watched a few eps of “So Graham Norton” and then called it a night. I was exhausted anyway, and knew I had to get up early to take Charlie to the vet.

I keep changing my plans for today. Original plan was to drop Charlie off, then go to B&N and work for an hour before my chiro appt. Last night, getting to bed late and feeling sick, I decided to postpone my appt and go back to bed after dropping Charlie off. This morning, although I’m tired, I decided to stay up, but stay home before my appt. Which is what I’m doing now. I’ll get a little e-mail done, etc., have my appt and run an errand, then come home and call Dennis so we can take the car in. Hm, looking at recent entries, I see I’ve failed to mention that the car’s “check engine” light has come on again. We’ll have them hook the car up to the computer to determine what’s wrong, and Dennis can then fix it. There’s nothing obviously going wrong, and he says it’s safe for me to run errands.

I may take a nap this afternoon.

<><><>

I tried taking a nap, but I couldn’t sleep. Grrr.

Went to my appt, returned something at Fry’s, then came home. Dennis was out on a job so I spent the afternoon trying to be productive, despite my sleepiness and sickiness. I got more done on our holiday newsletter, and in fact I’d say it’s almost done. When Cat got home, we did some housecleaning, and also rearranged a few more boxes in the garage so I can get to the rest of the SF/F books.

Dennis was at a job all day, but should show up tomorrow morning, so that’s good. I’d truly prefer the car be fixed before I have to drive to pick up Teresa at LAX in the evening.

I picked up Charlie, who’s doing fine. She had to have one tooth pulled (apparently it had half-deteriorated already) and another bonded. She seems happy to be home. Unless anybody gets sick, that’s it for vet visits until May or June when the other two have their annuals. We’re over $2K already this year, for whoever’s counting.

Cat and I tried to check out the one Chinese restaurant I knew of in the area, but it was closed. (I didn’t check the sign on the door, and hope it was just closed on Mondays). So we went to a reasonable Chinese buffet, and stuffed ourselves silly. We got home and greatly desired to nap, but instead I helped folks sew and she cooked herself lots of food for the coming week.

Then we watched a truly hilarious episode of “Charmed” (“Mom’s already sexed up for the firefighter…”), and she’s off to bed, and I’m soon off to my own bed.

I’m actually feeling a little better. Exhausted, but not quite as scratchy-throated and dry-eyed. Maybe I’ll nip this illness in the bud.

So, if you were going to wander anywhere in the U.S., what would you go/do/see? (Sights rather than visit friends, that is.)

Teresa arrives tomorrow!
