Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

O happy gloom

Not a whole lot to say yesterday, so not worth posting an entry. I got lots of little things done, crossed many things off my list. Dove into the longest of the two novel ms I have to read for the OCW workshop, and happily, it’s pretty good. Not the sort of thing I’d normally read, but well written and interesting.

Some friends from Santa Barbara went to a sunset beach wedding in Laguna Beach and then crashed with us before heading down to Potrero War this morning. It was nearly midnight when they arrived, and we stayed up until 2:30 or so talking. Ack. I’m not happy about being awake already, but it was one of those mornings where I got to the point where sleep wasn’t going to happen anymore.

Last night we watched the penultimate ep of this season’s “Charmed”, and then another second-season “Angel” and some of the special features on the disk. I got some inkle weaving done, which made me happy. I’m trying to get all of the award cords done by Coronation next weekend.

We’re trying to sort out various dinners and shows and fun stuff for this weekend as well. Find a balance between working and playing and seeing people we don’t see enough of. And that’s cool.

We’ve been having what’s called June Gloom, when the marine layer comes in and stays for most of the day. I’m still wearing shorts, but it’s cool and comfortable, and the sun isn’t glaring. This is a time of year I love in southern California.
