Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

The dauntless riders return

We’re back! Had a lovely, if chilly, time. I’m now feeling vaguely panicked about all I need to do, so I’m trying to clean out the In Box (less than 100 new messages, astonishingly—although that’s probably because I get all my lists as digests) and get things otherwise organised so I can focus on writing for the next few days.

Sadly, got no work done while we were gone. I’d thought I’d get a few words out, or a story edited, but we were either riding, socializing, or lounging. Or sleeping. Did a fair amount of sleeping. More details to come. (Aren’t you excited now?!)

Came home to two rejections. One annoyed me because it was to “Mr. Dermatis”, but the editor was kind enough to critique the story (which she also said some nice things about). The odd part was when she said my protag (a teenage girl) sounded like a formal man, not a female. Huh. The other story made it to the second round but ultimately didn’t fit with the other stories in the antho. Ah well. Must get those back in the mail this week.
