She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Bang!

Words Written: Monday, DFL 1067; Tuesday, DFL 1351

No entry yesterday; apologies. Ken picked me up from Kirk’s (carpool driver), and we went straight to Baja Fresh for supper, and then we ran errands. I was exhausted and my lower back was hurtin’ something fierce (this had been going on since Saturday, I believe). We got home at 9, and I was in bed by 9:30. I didn’t even have the energy to crawl into the hot tub for a soak first.

It was annoying, because I’d gotten a decent night’s sleep and had been in a reasonable mood all day, too.

Today, woke up a little early, grumbly and congested. Swore at the alarm when it went off. Still, doing okay. Got 850 words done on the drive to work, which kicked ass. If I could get the daily words up to 1500 total on a regular basis, I will be one happy puppy. We’ll see.

Ken hasn’t left yet, BTW. Not that I’m complaining. It’s kind of cute, really. See, he decided that along with riding to Portland, he wanted to do a border-to-border ride, all on the 5 Fwy, in 24 or 36 hours (he’ll shoot for 24, but do 36 if he gets overly tired or just decides 24 isn’t working for him). I confess I don’t understand the whole distance-riding thing… Anyway, he’ll leave on an afternoon and go to just-this-side-of Tijuana, get a motel, get up at 3 a.m. (!!!), and head north (this allows him to miss rush-hour traffic in San Diego, LA, Sacramento, etc.). He didn’t leave Monday because of the rain, and he decided not to leave today because he still had a lot of stuff to get ready. (It’s a running joke that before any long bike trip, he has to take the bike apart…) Current plan is that he’ll leave tomorrow.

Today my boss told me that he was going to lunch, and if all hell broke loose while he was gone, I was to hang a big sign in the window telling him not to come back in. Heh.

Picked up the new Styx album, Big Bang Theory! It’s always a happy day when there’s a new Styx album! It’s already getting great reviews.

Poor Ken is all sniffly. Probably allergies—at least, we hope so, because a cold would suck right now.
