This is a Special Report from STNews.

Presidential Debate Preview.

Here, from the campus of George Washington University in St. Louis Missouri, is senior STNews correspondent Connie Chung.

CC: Good afternoon from George Washington University in St. Louis. I’m Connie Chung.
Tonight is a decisive night for undecided voters as President George W. Bush and John W. Kerry face off in the second of three Presidential debates.
In the first debate, last week, George Bush looked angry, smirking, and unsure, if you average all the polls from the event John Kerry won with 88% to 22% for the President.
Here for some perspective is my colleague for these events, the man who played the President in the film “Independence Day’, Bill Pullman.
Good afternoon Bill.

BP: Good morning Connie, and good afternoon everyone. Well this event could be the deciding event for the 2004 Presidential election. The Presidents numbers dropped after the debate last week, leaving the election in a dead heat. Many on both sides of the issue were surprised at Kerry’s strong showing, but amazed at the Presidents lackluster performance.

CC: Bush looked like a petulant child, Bill.

BP: He IS a petulant child Connie, and that showed last week.

CC: Now tonight’s debate is on domestic issues, not the President’s strong suit.

BP: Yes it’s not the best area for the President. Job numbers released today are far below the projections by the White House, and coupled with the report earlier this week that Sadaam was no threat before 9/11, he has his work cut out for him.

CC: What’s the Republican’s strategy on all the bad news?

BP: They have taken an unusual approach. Their lying about all of it, saying the economy is good and Sadaam was a terrorist.
The lies on terrorism work better than the lies on the economy, so look for Bush to lie more about foreign policy tonight, than lying about jobs.

CC: but either way…

BP: He’s lying. That’s right.

CC: Thank you Bill. We will be here after the debate with analysis and lies, we will also keep you up to date on any developments on the impending volcano eruption at Mt. St. Helens. Stay with us. Be seeing you.
