Happy Blurs

The summer is becoming a happy blur of happy events.

David moved to Reenie's Reach the 1st of July, but I rarely see him because he's up to his eyeballs studying for the TN Bar. He has discipline to the likes I've never known in myself. He rises early and does push-ups before having coffee and a sensible breakfast of yogurt and cereal and fruit. He then heads for the Sewanee library because he knows he'll be more productive there than at home with distractions. (Hey! I'm all about distractions!) He eats the sensible lunch he's packed for himself. Heads home late afternoon. Has a sensible snack. Studies more. Jogs 5 miles. Showers. Studies more. We have a late dinner together. Bed.

I have never been that disciplined.

An unexpected bonus as a result of studying at Sewanee's Library is that by happenstance David met Louise who is pictured below. She's in her 4th summer working toward a Masters in Writing. She's a single mother with young teens. She's from Scotland, bright and beautiful, and very, very funny, educated in the states (Wellesley graduate) and now lives in Vero Beach and knows my folks who live there. The coincidence almost seemed preposterous. I was so pleased she was able to visit with a wine break. (David, of course ever the sensible one, had Ginger Ale.) She leaves the mountain this Sunday - flying to Scotland where the family maintains a home, which she has offered to us. *sigh* I would so love to take her up on this offer, but it's unlikely.

BTW, I'm doing very well.

The other pic is of a new restaurant in town. It's adjacent to Mooney's which is a fabulous general store that opened about a year ago.

I've been documenting my collection. It's become a HUGE undertaking. I had no idea I had so much art. I've photographed nearly everything and am now researching and documenting to include purchase price and current estimated value. I've made some startling discoveries along the way - some pieces are far more valuable than I realized, but most my collection is quirky with an emotional connection. I recently upgraded to an iPhone. Mind you, my last cell phone didn't even take photos, but with this new phone I hope to create a video of my collection with my voiceover.

I leave in about 10 days to spend 12 days or so traveling to KCMO to Portland and back to KCMO to visit my children and grandchildren. I'm so excited about this, but carry a bit of anxiety because traveling with oxygen takes a lot of advance planning. I'm never too alarmed about the oxygen element. I remind people that it's not like I've landed on Mars... though at times, I tell ya...

Hope you all are having a happy summer with happy blurs.
