The Slim Kings

Before you listen to the video below by the Slim Kings, let me give you some background first.

*****

Gregg Geller & I grew up around the corner from each other. His son, Henry, is a member of The Slim Kings. It's clear that with Henry, the family continues with multi-generational talents. The list of outstanding accomplishments is impressive.

I lifted this from a website:

Gregg Geller has more than forty years experience in the music industry, including A&R positions at CBS Records and Warner Bros. and as a producer. He was responsible for signing artists such as Elvis Costello, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Hiatt and Nick Lowe to Columbia and Epic Records. Geller has also produced numerous commercially-successful compilations for artists, including Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Prince, Sam Cooke and Rod Stewart. He created and directed Warner Bros. Records' "Warner Archives" series and "Warner Remasters," and received Grammy Award Nominations for The Legend by Johnny Cash and A Golden Celebration by Elvis Presley. He has been a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the Grammy Hall of Fame Committee and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominating Committee.

"Gregg is one of the most respected A&R people in the business," said Terry Stewart, President and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.

*****

Gregg's father, Andrew Geller, was an iconic mid-century architect whose niche was designing *affordable* houses for the Hamptons. Sounds a little oxymoronic, doesn't it. :) Andrew also designed the distinctive and highly recognizable Lord & Taylor logo. Gregg's mother, Shirley, was a highly regarded artist.

*****

Gregg's nephew, Jake Gorst, is an award winning documentarian whom I've gotten to know throughout the years. He and his wife, Tracey, are blazoned on the marquee with the rest of the family.

*****

So it comes as no surprise that Gregg's son, Henry, has become a rising star, too. Below is a recent release, which is being featured on Nurse Jackie! OMG! One of my most favorite shows.

Most of you know I'm a do-do when it comes to music... but I know good stuff when I hear it. Congrats Slim Kings.

Be sure to watch to the end. :)
