Yesterday wasn't a good day for me. I have a back injury. It's lower back stuff. It hurts. And yesterday it was just too, too much. I have no clue how this happened except I walked a lot the other day while at Vanderbilt?

It became my tipping point.

Last night I was full of sorrow. Thinking I need to rearrange my life to make it work better. Perhaps free-up one of my apartments and have a caregiver/companion move in.

Last night an unexpected guest intruded... loneliness. I don't get lonely too often. I like my solitude. Period. But last night I yearned to have a cat in my lap, a dog curled at my feet... even a rooster to chase me around the house. I can't.

This morning I woke with a rebooted attitude.

My back still hurts like the dickens, but like the air I squeeze in and out of my lungs, I adjust. I have no choice. My deck is stacked with Jokers, so it seems.

Today I set out to prove that I can still do this by myself for a while. Mine was a quiet and productive day. Johnny Ray, married to my Joan who helps me around the house every so often, is coming this Tuesday to *winterize* my home and property... closing circulation vents, removing the beautiful hanging ferns, cleaning and draping the screened porch, bringing sculptures inside that wouldn't survive the cold of winter. And more.

I changed Copyright's outfit today. She's now properly attired for the season - golf attire and visor put away until next spring. (Copyright is the Mannequin, my official greeter, on my front porch.) This is a photograph from last year.

I did some laundry and finished preparing a pot of chili to freeze to use when my family is here for Thanksgiving. Tomorrow I'm going to make a family favorite - cabbage & ravioli soup. As soon as I finish this journal entry, I'll put clean sheets on my bed. Then contemplate a late dinner.
It's been a full and busy day per my standards.

FORE! I'm playing through!

Here are photos of some new canvases for my walls. I like these three a lot, a lot. Especially the Chair of Thanks.
