Don't Think Badly of Me, Or Else . . .

Okay, go read this, then come back here. Don't worry, I'll wait.

Man Sent Home

Ho-dee do . . . Dum,dee-dum, dee-dum . . .Oh! You're back. Let's ruminate, shall we?

Okay, let's assume for a moment that man and his wife had a ticket. Then let's assume that they were there legally.

They sent him home after carting him off the premises for WEARING A FUCKING TEE-SHIRT?

Am I outraged? You betcha. Am I surprised?

Would that I were. But my lack of surprise over this situation says more about this country right now than any further comment I could make. I'm here to tell you, ladies and gentleman, in no state of which I am aware, nor in the U.S. Constitution, is rude behavior outlawed. Everyone has the right to say what they want, or wear whatever tee-shirt they want, or broadcast any message they want without the fear of being handcuffed and taken away.

Have we really come to this? Is George Bush so afraid of simple criticism? And if so, why?

Okay, that last question was rhetorical, but nonetheless, should we let someone who walks all over the Constitution stay in office? Doesn't said oath of office require that one swear, "To protect and defend" said Constitution?

Were did our rights go, anyway? We spent billions upon billions of dollars engaged in a cold war with an enemy that controlled its population in order to grant everyone everwhere the rights that we hold dear only to have one President, one moronic God-Blesser, one oil executive clear them away like the rubble from the two towers.

What have we come to? Can this truly be real? Somebody please, wake me the fuck up.

Joseph Haines, signing off from The Edge of the Abyss.
