I finally figured this all out, looking at all the tie-breaking rules and such. To summarize:
  • The JETS will win the AFC East by winning their next two games, regardless of what the DOLPHINS or the PATIROTS do.

  • The DOLPHINS win the AFC East by winning thier next two games, regardless of what the JETS or the PATIROTS do.

  • If all three teams win next week, then the winner of the JETS-DOLPHINS game wins the AFC East. Both the JETS and the DOLPHINS hold tie breakers over the PATRIOTS.

  • The ONLY way the PATRIOTS can win the AFC East, is if they can win their last two games, AND the JETS and DOLPHINS both lose next week. This scenario would give the PATRIOTS an overall better record of 11-5.
