I had a great time today at the Jamfest. It was even better than the last time. It started out a little slow as the drummer couldn't make it as his Dad went into the hospital. All our best wishes to him for a quick recovery.
About an hour into it we started to pick it up a bit and were starting to really get into the music. We then changed it up a bit with an acoustic set of a bunch of Beatles stuff. Everyone loved the change up. We then took a break and sat down for some good barbecued chicken and a few more cold ones.
All Fat dumb and happy, we torn into another set. We started out with a vocal from new person at the mike. ME! I did my rendition of Kansas "Dust in the wind" and even hit all the high notes. Got a nice round of applause for my first time out. Felt good.
We played til about 8:30 and decided to call it a night. We decided that Sept 9th will be our last for the summer and we are going to make it an all day affair. I have decided to work up another vocal for then. Thinking about Styx "Come sail away". I'm pretty sure I can pull off Dennis DeYoung. We shall see.
Can't wait.
